Nutcracker
Our 3rd annual Nutcracker is Saturday, December 17th at 1pm at South Portland High School. Come see our magical show with all genres of dance and guest Sugar Plum and Cavalier. Tickets available online thruugh December 8th at www.tututix.com/scarboroughdancecenter.

January and March 6 week sessions
We have a variety of January and March 6 week session. These are great classes for younger dancers and dancers wanting to try a new class! The schedule is right on our website and we have flyers in the lobby.
Severe Weather Cancellations
We will post all severe weather cancellations on channels 6, 8, 13 and facebook. We will also email the studio and send texts to those who signed up for text alerts. To sign up for text alerts, please email Mel Maddock, sdcmelmaddock@gmail.com
Dancers can make up missed classes with any other classes on the schedule.
Company/Performance Showcase
Our very talented Company and Performance dancers will be performing in a Showcase.
Don’t miss this event. solos and duets will only be performed at this show, not recital.
This is a great opportunity for the dancers and parents to see all of the competition routines.
Younger dancers will love to see the older kids and aspire to dance like them someday:)

Recital
Both of our recitals are Saturday, May 13th @South Portland High School.
We have an 10am show and a 1:30pm show. (recital days can be found on the website and studio bulletin board)Recital info has been posted since April 2016. Recitals will be about 2 hours. Pictures will be taken at dress rehearsals in the order of the show.
Toddle Inn Recital
Toddle Inn Recital will be Saturday, May 13th @ South Portland High School at 4:30pm. The show will be 45 minutes long. Dancers should not arrive before 4:00pm. This is just for Toddle Inn dancers and a few comp routines.
Recital Informational packets will be handed out the 1st week in January. Please read carefully, this is very important! Most info has already been distributed, you will receive the info again.
Dance Costume Pictures will be posted in the lobby in January and will be emailed out to each class.
Dancewear for Christmas gifts.
We have dancewear with the SDC logo available for Xmas gifts. We have yoga pants, sweatpants, shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts. Please see someone at the desk if you are interested.
Tuition is due the 1st of each month. Tuition is based on a seasonal rate of 30 classes, which is broken down into 8 equal monthly payments from September to April. A $5 late fee will be accessed for every month tuition is late and every month thereafter until tuition is paid.
Our summer 2017 schedule will be out in January ! Summer classes are highly recommend to continue your dance training. We saw tons of growth from dancers who trained in the summer:)

Nutcracker Auditions
Auditions are right around the corner for this year’s SDC Nutcracker. They will be held Saturday, September 24th from 10 am to Noon (10-10:30 ages 8-10, 10:30-11:00 ages 11-13, 11:00-12:00 ages 14 and up). If your dancer is interested in participating in this year’s Nutcracker, please complete the registration form below and return it to the studio as soon as possible.

Jazz Master Teacher on Conventions alongside SYTYCD Alumni
Bio: Courtney Ortiz, a native of Baltimore, MD, is a 2007 youngARTS award winner for Modern Dance. Her professional dance career has allowed her to travel the world performing in places such as: Los Angeles, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Alaska, Australia and France. While living in New York City, Courtney has had the opportunity to perform in many productions including Broadway on Broadway in Times Square, the dance musical Petrouchka at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, “The Chase Brock Experience” at Symphony Space NYC and in Broadway Bares at the Hammerstein Ballroom. She has been seen on TV back up dancing for Korean Superstar PSY for his “Gentleman” debut on The Today Show, behind Chris Brown for his “Fine China” release, dancing next to Kelly Ripa on Live! with Regis and Kelly, and working out alongside Madonna promoting her MDNA World Tour! Courtney has also had the opportunity to audition for “So You Think You Can Dance” where she has successfully received a “Ticket to Vegas” multiple times and made it to the Top 50 Female Dancers in Season 9. Other professional credits include: numerous music videos, Royal Caribbean Cruiselines, Hearthstone Worldwide Video Game Commercial as “Annoy-O-Tron”, Choreographer and Featured Dancer in YouTube’s hit web series The Key of Awesome, The Aluminum Show in Madrid, Spain, David’s Bridal Commercial and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. One of her favorite & most memorable credits was performing throughout Europe in the classic musical West Side Story as the Assistant Dance Captain and Jet Girl on the International Tour, where they performed for 10 weeks at the world renown Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France. Just Recently, Courtney performed at Madison Square Garden in “Macy’s Fashion’s Front Row” as a Dancer for Heidi Klum’s new Lingerie Line during NYC Fashion Week 2015 which aired on E! Network!
Courtney loves judging and teaching Master Classes around the country and is on staff with numerous dance conventions alongside SYTYCD Alumni’s. You may have even seen her behind the judge’s table on Lifetime’s Dance Moms as a featured judge in Seasons 2 & 3! She is also the creator of IMPACT DANCE ADJUDICATORS, the first and only staffing service providing professional level, pre-screened, experienced Judges to Dance Competitions Nationwide. Olivia Cece grew up in Rhode Island, training with Atwood Performing Arts Center under the direction of Bette Ann Rossi. Olivia is now currently living in New York City, where she is will be entering her fourth and final year in the Pace University Commercial Dance Program, where she will obtain her BFA. Olivia is now a professional assistant for the Artists Simply Human Workshop Tour, a dance convention she attended as a competitive dancer. Working for this convention has allowed her to work with her favorite choreographers, and the top choreographers in the industry.
Olivia has experience with print work and has been featured twice in Dance Spirit Magazine, StarBound Magazine, and has been the face of Dance competition ads around the U.S. Olivia was featured in a music video for Ricky Rude featuring Scarface for Vevo, and she was also featured as a top 30 finalist on season 11 of the hit FOX TV series So You Think You Can Dance! Olivia has assisted Choreographer Joey Dowling at the NYC Knicks auditions this past year, and was also Dance Captain alongside Joey on her spring piece at Pace University.
She has performed in theaters such as the Michael Schimmel Theatre, the Joyce Theatre, and more. Olivia has danced back up for artists such as Mario Spinetti at the RockWood music hall in NYC, and the Wu Tang Clan at Webster Hall. Olivia just recently choreographed in Emergence, a Pace University student choreography showcase in New York City. She has
spent the last two summers teaching and choreographing across the U.S at over 25 different studios, and has been awarded first overalls at such competitions/conventions as JUMP, NYCDA, ADA, KAR, STAR QUEST, and more.
Olivia’s heart and passion belongs to the stage and performing, however she loves educating young dancers and watching them expand their artistry.

Studio Picture Day: We will take pictures at dress rehearsals. This will be great, dancers will be there and it is one less day for parents to come in to the studio.
Recitals: Morning show and afternoon show.( 10am and 1:30pm) May 13, 2017 at South Port-land High School.

Ballet levels begin with more serious Ballet training, focusing on proper body placement, body lines, technique and proper terminology. Ballet is the foundation for dance (the “Big Momma” of dance). Ballet is essential in advanced development of Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary Turns and Leaps, Jazz, and Tap.
Level 1- ages 7-10(1st part of serious training)
Level 2- ages 8-12(2nd phase of serious training or for beginner-adv. beginner)
Level 3- Must have at least 2-3 years training or recommendation from teacher. 2 Ballet clas-ses per week are recommended, to exceed at this point.
Level 4- Must have teacher recommendation and take 2 classes a week.
Level 5- Must have teacher recommendation and take 2 classes a week.
A dancer must take 2 Ballet classes per week to take any level pointe class.
Performance classes- for kids who want more performance time and more advanced classes but do not want to commit to company. Dancers will perform in our showcase, recital, and at the Red Claws (for Hip Hop).
You do not have to audition to be on the performance team.
Turns and Leaps classes- are required for company students and highly recommended for dancers who want to advance their abilities in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Pointe and Ballet

We need 6 registered students to hold any class. We will email all registered students the week of April 25th to let them know if classes are running. 5 week sessions must be paid in full by the 1st class.

Company Audition Information
Company auditions are Friday May 20th. We are accepting dancers ages 8-18. SDC Company is for the more dedicated student who wants to thrive in technique, performance, style, musicality, strength and flexibility while being part of the SDC Company family. Our Company team of teachers is professional, motivated and loving and excited to watch the dancers grow.

Interested in Company?
There will be a company meeting for dancers interested in company for the 2016-2017 season on Tuesday, March 15, 6:30-7:00pm. There will be answers to any questions you have and information about the commitment, dedication and levels needed to be on the teams.
